Watch Pusha T Debut “Sunshine” On The Daily Show
Pusha T’s excellent new album Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude comes out on Friday. And while most of it finds Pusha rapping about his drug-dealing prowess, the album ends with “Sunshine,” a song about the sort of oppression and hopelessness that led to the Baltimore Uprising earlier this year. It’s a powerful, lyrically dense song, and it’s got Jill Scott sounding like Billie Holiday on the chorus. Last night, Pusha was a guest on The Daily Show, and he performed “Sunshine” live for the first time. Jill Scott wasn’t there, but he did have a live band with him, and he remains one of the most intense live rappers you will ever see. As an online bonus, he also did the new single “Crutches, Crosses, Caskets.” Watch both performances below.
Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude is out 12/18 on G.O.O.D. Music. And Pusha’s already posted the “Sunshine” lyrics on Genius.
