Washer – “Got Drunk And Ate The Sun” (Stereogum Premiere)
The last song we heard off of Washer’s forthcoming debut full-length was “Pet Rocks Vs Healing Crystal,” a song about trying to level with people who have weird habits and compulsions, or assign deep intrinsic meaning to inanimate objects. A lot of Washer’s lyricism hones in on the vast, wide-open concept of “empathy,” or at least trying to learn how to relate to people instead of getting really frustrated with them. A lot of Washer’s song titles, on the other hand, are funny, fitting, and not serious in the least bit. “Got Drunk And Ate The Sun” is their latest offering, and it’s a Pile soundalike that spews out of Mike Quigley’s mouth like, I don’t know, the vomit that bubbles up after you drunkenly eat the sun? Listen below.
