CFCF – “Arto” & “Sate Padang”
The ever-chill Montreal producer CFCF is back with more of his sonic sedative. After a solid contribution to Driftless Recordings’ Driftless Ambient II comp and the lowest of low-key brilliance that was this past summer’s Radiance and Submission, CFCF is back with “Arto” and “Sate Padang.” The instrumental tracks, which debuted at The Fader, are the first offerings from the mini-LP On Vacation. On the surface they sounds like smooth jazz you would hear reclined in the dentist’s office, but to liken them to some Kenny G would be unjust. The beautiful opening guitar strums of “Arto” give way to wonderfully layered textures of accordion, soothing sweeps, and deep bass flourishes. The accordion seems out of place for a bit, but settles in nicely. I feel like I wouldn’t mind having a wisdom tooth or two removed if this was playing while my gums were destroyed. Check out both songs below.
On Vacation is out 2/19 on International Feel as the second release in their On Vacation mini-album series.
