Amber Arcades – “Turning Light”
Dutch musician Annelotte de Graaf records under the excellent stage name Amber Arcades — and in the case of her forthcoming debut album, she records with the in-demand Ben Greenberg (ex-the Men) on production duties. Today Noisey shared “Turning Light,” a single from Amber Arcades’ forthcoming debut album. The track was conceived during a chance studio encounter with bassist Keven Lareau in the early hours of the morning, and its shimmering krautrock dream state reflects that origin story. Imagine what Yo La Tengo might come up with if they tried to reframe Republica’s “Ready To Go” as one of their trademark melancholy drifts, or think of some incredible lost Stereolab B-side as remembered from the back of your subconscious. I realize I’m getting your expectations up pretty high here, but believe me, this thing is every bit as pretty as you’re hoping it will be.
Amber Arcades’ debut album is out this spring via Heavenly Recordings.
