Former Roots Bassist Sues Questlove & Black Thought
Former Roots bassist Leonard “Hub” Hubbard has filed a lawsuit against Questlove, Black Thought, and the band’s manager, claiming that he was cut out of his share of the group’s revenue, as TMZ reports.
Hubbard began playing with the Roots in 1992, and left in 2007 after he was diagnosed with cancer. Two years later, the Roots became the house band for Jimmy Fallon, and have been ever since. Hubbard is claiming that his deal with the band stipulated that he would continue to be paid as a co-owner of the enterprise, but that a former manager threatened to cut his health insurance and his share of the revenue’s in 2014.
