Tanya Donelly – “Tooraloo” (Feat. Rick Moody) (Stereogum Premiere)
The veteran Boston musician Tanya Donelly has been a part of both the Throwing Muses and the Pod-era Breeders, and she’s just announced the impending reunion of her most famous band, the early-’90s alt-pop hitmakers Belly. But before that reunion kicks off, she’s got a huge project to release: A titanic three-CD set called Swan Song Series. The 31-song set includes Donelly’s first five self-released EPs, as well as seven previously unreleased tracks. And it’s heavy on collaborations, including tracks with Robyn Hitchcock, Damon + Naomi, the Magnetic Fields’ Claudia Gonson, Buffalo Tom’s Bill Janovitz, and Belly’s Tom Gorman. One of the tracks included is the slow, stately “Tooraloo,” which Donelly recorded with The Ice Storm author and part-time musician Rick Moody. Listen to it below.
