Nashville’s Lionlimb has sweet ’70s singer-songwriter sensibilities to their psych-rock. Their forthcoming full-length Shoo is set to drop in a little over two weeks. They’ve already shared the tracks “Domino” and “Turnstile,” and today they follow up with “Just Because.” The song is another beauty, with a bouncy grand piano progression, a warm Wurlitzer flourish, wailing guitar, and subdued but infectious boom-bap drums. Stewart Bronaugh’s vocal is barely more than a whisper, delicately floating over the instrumentation with palpable longing and introspection. The ambivalence in the hook “Just because you’re at my door it doesn’t mean I’ll spring/ And just because you start to mourn it doesn’t mean a thing” registers deep, contrasting nicely with the brightness of the sonics.
