Arcade Fire To Receive Humanitarian Juno Award
Arcade Fire will be honored with the Allan Waters Humanitarian Award at this year’s Juno Awards gala, Billboard reports. The eight-time Juno winners have raised around $9.6 million and trained thousands of outreach volunteers to help the people of Haiti. In 2006, the band began donating $1 per concert ticket sold to Partners in Health, a nonprofit organization founded in Haiti to provide healthcare to people in poverty-stricken areas, and Régine Chassagne co-founded the Haiti charity KANPE in 2010. “It is an honour. We are very thankful,” Chassagne in a statement regarding the award. “It helps us continue the work.” The ceremony takes place 4/2 in Calgary, Alberta, and will be televised the next day.
