R.I.P. Andrew Loomis
Andrew Loomis, longtime drummer for the beloved Pacific Northwest power trio Dead Moon, has died. The Portland Mercury reports that Loomis passed away yesterday after a battle with lymphoma and a series of mini-strokes.
Alongside the married couple Fred and Toody Cole, Loomis formed Dead Moon in 1987, and the remained with them until they broke up in 2006. He also played with them when they reunited in 2014 and 2015. He contributed drums to Fred and Toody Cole’s other bands Pierced Arrows and the Rats, and he played with the band the Shiny Things. Last year, after Loomis was diagnosed with lymphoma, fans contributed to a GoFundMe campaign to help him with his medical expenses.
