Florence Welch’s voice has a grand sweep it it that very few contemporary singers can match. Meanwhile, the new video game Final Fantasy XV has a trailer that makes it look more cinematic than most movies. So it makes sense to hear Welch’s voice in the new trailer for the game, which seems to involve both mystical dragons and road-trip male bonding. In the new trailer, Welch sings Ben E. King’s eternal pop standard “Stand By Me,” making it vast and weighty and giving herself plenty of room to unleash big notes. Welch says:

I’ve always seen Final Fantasy as mythical, beautiful and epic,. “Stand by Me” is one of the greatest songs probably of all time and you can’t really improve on it, you just have to make it your own. For me it was just about bringing the song into the world of Florence + The Machine and the world of Final Fantasy.
