KINO KIMINO – “Passion”
KINO KIMINO is the project of artsy rock auteur Kim Talon with Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley, and “Passion” is the lead single for the upcoming album Bait Is For Sissies. Talon brings a weird, feisty angst to her brand of shoegaze, and the first foray into the album has plenty of it. Rhythmic guitar strums and quick-hitting drum rolls liven Talon’s deadpan delivery of cutting non-sequitur lyrics. The one-shot clip that goes along with it is oddly fitting for the song. It’s a parody of the millions of DIY instructional videos on YouTube, in which the rocker apparently shows us how to wash our hair fully clothed without getting water on the bathroom floor? It’s a head-scratcher, but it fits well with her vibe. Check it out.
Bait Is For Sissies is out 6/3.
