Yucky Duster – “Gofer”
Waiting on someone you like while it becomes increasingly clear they’ll never like you back in the same way is the worst, and Yucky Duster plainly capture all of the annoyance, frustration, and confusion of that situation on “Gofer,” the second single from their upcoming debut following “Seashell Song.” “I’ve been waiting around, but how long?” Madeline Babuka Black asks in roundabout fashion before answering her own question with finality: “You could think I’m special, but you’d never go for me.” But that’s not really a satisfying answer, just a surrender, and she makes that clear in the breathless second half of the track: “It makes no sense to me ‘cus I even met your family,” she protests. “I guess that’s just the way it goes: stepping on my toes, jumping on my bed, messing with my head/ Man, it hurts my head.” Listen below.
