Watch The Real Tom Petty Fight A Fake Bob Dylan In :DRYVRS Episode 2
Only Son frontman and former Moldy Peaches guitarist Jack Dishel was inspired to make the pilot episode of the web series :DRYVRS after using Lyft and Uber to get to the studio every day while recording a new Only Son album. He would get into weird conversations with the drivers starting thinking of material based on those conversations. The first episode featured Macaulay Culkin revisiting his classic Home Alone movies on a trippy journey, but things get a hell of a lot weirder in the second episode.
Dishel gets picked up by a driver (Rosanna Arquette) who just dropped acid, and as the effects start to kick in she mistakes him for a young Bob Dylan (which isn’t very hard to do sober). The two embark on a hallucinogenic ride across Los Angeles as Dishel turns in a pretty convincing Dylan impression. As Dishel’s character guides his rolling driver to their destination, she slips into a dream-like state, imagining a serenade from Dishel’s Bob Dylan persona before Tom Petty guests as himself and they fight over her. Dhani Harrison also makes a brief cameo. Check it out.
Here’s the first episode too:
