Head Wound City – “Just One Fix” (Ministry Cover)
Post-hardcore supergroup Head Wound City are in full swing promoting their upcoming album, A New Wave Of Violence, due later this spring. They’ve shared a couple of punishing singles in “Scraper” and “Born To Burn,” but today they taken a break from their album to cover Ministry’s classic 1992 Psalm 69 single “Just One Fix” for Record Store Day.
Ministry’s original was anything but soft, and Head Wound City’s rendition is harder, sludgier, and denser, with Jordan Billie’s vocals blood curdling, controlled screams cutting through. Billie had this to say about Ministry’s original:
I remember having my mind blown by Ministry’s Psalm 69 when I was 12 years old. For whatever reason, they came up a lot when we were writing and recording our album. So, when it came time to do a b-side it only felt right to do ‘Just One Fix.’ I love playing it; it makes me feel 12 again.
It seems like Head Wound City could add a jagged edge to pretty much anything. Listen.
A New Wave Of Violence is out 5/13 on Vice. Pre-order is available here.
