Watch The Flaming Lips & Chewbacca Cover David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” On Colbert
A few weeks ago, a group of musical luminaries paid tribute to David Bowie in two big benefit concerts at Carnegie Hall. The Flaming Lips took part, and while they were in New York, they taped an appearance on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Last night, Colbert aired the performance. It’s the band, dressed in lots of wigs and glitter, performing Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” a song they recently turned into a music video. Their version of the song is fairly faithful; the biggest change is probably that they play the saxophone solo on a guitar. But they definitely turned the performance into something theatrical. Chewbacca and an astronaut, for instance, make guest appearances. Check it out below.
Now I want to hear Chewbacca sing “Let’s Dance.”
