Alex Cameron – “She’s Mine” Video
Alex Cameron is an idiosyncratic Sydney musician signed to Secretly Canadian. With saxophonist and creative partner Roy Molloy at his side, he makes tracks like today’s dystopian new wave jam “She’s Mine.” Built around oscillating primitive keyboard sounds and an increasingly intense programmed beat, the song somehow finds a way to make ’80s revivalism feel fresh at this late date in Western history. Meanwhile, in director James Pillion’s “She’s Mine” video, Cameron dramatically croons the track in front of an old car and a dark cityscape. It’s hard to tell if he’s taking himself ultra-seriously or just really good at taking the piss, but either way his song is great. Watch below.
Cameron’s debut album is due later this year on Secretly Canadian. In the meantime, get “She’s Mine” at iTunes or Bandcamp.
