Watch Chance The Rapper Debut “Blessings,” Announce Chance 3 On The Tonight Show
When we heard that Chance The Rapper would be the musical guest on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show, many of us assumed that he’d release Chance 3, his long-awaited third mixtape, that night. He didn’t do that, and that’s probably honestly a good thing. After all, Chance’s erstwhile roommate James Blake released his own surprise album last night, and we can only process so much greatness at one time. As it turns out, Chance 3 will be out in a week. And Chance took the moment to debut a shattering new gospel-rap single called “Blessings.”
The song featured the singer Jamila Woods, Chance’s “Sunday Candy” collaborator, as well as the gospel artist Byron Cage. Chance’s band, Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment, backed him up, as did a full gospel choir. And together, they all did a big, beautiful, heartfelt new song, one with lyrics that we’ll be picking apart for a while. It’s one more great Chance performance in a long, long string of them, and you can watch it below.

Chance 3, as you can clearly see, is out 5/13. Does anyone else have the thing where they want to cry everytime they watch Chance do something great? I don’t feel that way about anyone else. Just Chance.
