Ian William Craig – “A Single Hope”
After a slew of low-key releases, Vancouver vocalist and composer Ian William Craig will release his ninth full-length album Centres this summer on FatCat’s experimental imprint 130701. Craig is a trained opera singer, and his album’s first advance track “A Single Hope” has a grand operatic sweep to it, but this music is far from stodgy. Rather, Craig’s ancient-sounding lament is awash in static and gorgeous harmonic drone. A lot of big names have been releasing a lot of incredible music lately, so it’s honestly a miracle that you’d even made it this far, but don’t stop now: Press play below and submerge yourself in beauty.
Centres is out 7/8 on 130701/FatCat. Pre-order it in physical or digital formats.
