ILoveMakonnen Says He’s Retiring From Rap, Then Releases New Song
Atlanta rap trickster-weirdo recently split with Drake’s OVO Sound label, which signed him shortly after Drake jumped on a remix of his song “Tuesday” in 2014. And these days, Makonnen seems to have very little connection with the rest of the rap world. (The new Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty, who sounds a whole hell of a lot like Makonnen, now seems to be making all the connections that Makonnen himself never really made.) And in a string of tweets last Friday, Makonnen said that he’s sick of rap and about to retire:
Rap game Wack, everyone flexed up except Makonnen, that's why I'm retiring. Lol this so good https://t.co/I9x0iDO01L

Ima let them have it, cus I have more to get, and I'm not greedy so that's why I'll leave and let y'all have it.

It's like for me to stay, I have to diss all these rappers and be negative, I don't wanna do that, so I'll move on. How positive is that

Since that tweetstorm, though, Makonnen has shared “Sound Like Who?,” a new song that accuses some nameless others of trying to sound like him:
Based on that, a Makonnen retirement might not be the worst idea?
