Psychic Ills – “Baby”
Veteran NY psych-rock duo Psychic Ills are steady on the path to the release of Inner Journey Out, their fifth album and followup to 2013’s One Track Mind. We’ve already heard “I Don’t Mind” and “Another Change.” Their latest share from the album is “Baby.” It’s a twangy country-leaning churn that gets surf-y in spots. That may seem like a weird blend of aesthetics, but it works wonderfully with the jangling guitar at the helm melting into a layer of warped guitar grooves. Tres Warren’s soothing vocal is adjoined in beautiful harmony with Elizabeth Hart’s as he sings his sweet adoration for and appreciation of a lover. Check it out.
Inner Journey Out is out 6/3 on Sacred Bones. Pre-order it at iTunes or Bandcamp.
