Nils Frahm & Woodkid Score Robert De Niro’s Ellis
Set within the decaying Ellis Island complex, Nils Frahm’s heavy melodic compositions and Woodkid’s dark singer- songwriter sensibilities will come together to score Robert De Niro’s upcoming work Ellis. Directed by French artist JR, the short film acts as “a commentary on the current state of US immigration policy, as well as window into the past, how we once were and approached these issues, and the now broken down state of both the physical Ellis institution and our moral approach to the issue of immigration.” Frahm and Woodkid released two teaser tracks along with the trailer via Erased Tapes, and will offer the soundtrack both with and without De Niro’s dialogue. Listen and watch below.
The soundtrack to Ellis is out 7/8 via Erased Tapes.
