Stream Vic Mensa There’s A Lot Going On EP
Last night, Chicago rap livewire Vic Mensa shared “16 Shots,” a heartfelt song about Laquan McDonald, the Chicago teenager executed by police last year. As it turns out, that song was our first taste of Mensa’s new surprise EP There’s A Lot Going On. The rest of the EP isn’t so politically motivated. Instead, it’s a slightly more inward-looking take on the slightly awkward party-rap that Mensa has been making for a while. On the first song, he tells you to “get your priorities straight like Hermione Granger,” and he doesn’t even sound like he’s joking when he says it. Later on, he calls himself “a prodigy in these Prada jeans.” So yeah: This thing is pretty goofy. You can stream it below.
There’s A Lot Going On is out now on Roc Nation.
