Yo La Tengo Will Be Aesop Rock’s Backing Band On Colbert Tonight
If you were paying attention to independent music in the late ’90s and early ’00s, tonight’s episode of the Late Show With Stephen Colbert just became appointment viewing. On tonight’s show, Yo La Tengo will be the backup band for Aesop Rock, a combination that once would’ve been a fever-dream fantasy combination. Yo La Tengo bassist James McNew has, in the past, played on rap records from people like Run The Jewels and Cage. And tonight, he and the rest of his band will help Aesop perform “Dorks,” one of the singles from his new album The Impossible Kid. These guys! Together! On TV! The world can be a magical place sometimes.
