angelic milk – “Rebel Black” Video
A few weeks back, angelic milk — the band to watch of Saint Petersburg-based musician Sarah Persephona — put out “Rebel Black,” the beguiling lead single from their upcoming Teenage Movie Soundtrack EP. Now, that song has a video to go along with it, which was directed by someone who goes by Valja Banjo Trailertrash.
“People are used to dividing music they hear into genres, but genres capture musicians into cages — and cages are harmful for art,” Persephona told i-D. “Instead of following some particular genre, we follow the idea of creating the soundtrack for those movies all the teenagers make up in their heads – movies, where their own stories are almost the same, but more dramatic, more violent, more psychedelic, than in reality. And the “Rebel Black” video is a part our own imaginary teenage movie, where our lives are shown through the prism of our own aesthetic vision.”
