Teenage Fanclub – “I’m In Love”
Scottish veterans Teenage Fanclub have been at it for 26 years now. Who knew how far their Catholic Education would take them in 1990? Anyway, they’re set to drop their 11th studio album, Here, this coming fall. The lead single is “I’m In Love” and it’s more of the vintage power pop we’ve come to expect from the quartet. Mildly distorted power chords, intricate drums, and lingering, sustained organ all drive the track, lifting the floating, harmonic melodies. The song captures what it’s like finally let yourself get lost in a person without caring about the possible hurtful consequences. It’s a bouncy, highly rhythmic jaunt, but the lyrics are not to be glossed over despite their simplicity. This is a nice start to the album. Listen.
Here is out 9/9 via Merge. Pre-order it here in the US and here in the UK.
