Aesop Rock – “Kirby” Video
NY underground veteran spitfire Aesop Rock just dropped his excellent album The Impossible Kid a couple months ago. He’s rightly promoted the hell out of it, and “Kirby” receives its fifth music video today following visuals for “Rings,” “Dorks,” “Blood Sandwich,” and “Lazy Eye.” But, fittingly, the Toben Seymour-directed clip for therapeutic cat-dad anthem “Kirby” is by far the cutest.
The video is pure, adorable kitty indulgence featuring a muppet version of Aes playing with Dina, a cat rescued from downtown LA and adopted. It’s surely a departure from the dark imagery of the other four videos that have images of the spitter’s face being split open on an operating table and a little league coach smashing a rodent with a baseball bat in front of his team. Beyond entertainment value, it’s also to encourage people to donate or adopt from their local animal shelter. So take a break from the Monday blues, get lost in the cuteness, and learn more about helping find homes for cats at The Humane Society’s website.
The Impossible Kid is out now on Rhymesayers.
