Watch Father John Misty, St. Vincent In A Toilet Costume Play Jasper Johnson Benefit In NYC
Earlier this year, Jasper Johnson — the young son of Matt Johnson, who has played drums for St. Vincent, Jeff Buckley, and many others — suffered a brain injury as a result of a seizure. He’s facing a long recovery, and last night, a number of musicians played a benefit show at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge to raise money for that recovery. St. Vincent headlined a bill that also included Rufus Wainwright (filling in for his sister Martha), Elysian Fields, and Joan As Police Woman. Meanwhile, Father John Misty showed up to a play a surprise guest set. And from the looks of things, the performers did not let the urgency of the cause stop them from being silly. Which is to say that St. Vincent’s Annie Clark performed while wearing a toilet costume. Her bandmates and dancers wore costumes, too.
Maybe Clark explained that costume at some point, but if she did, that news has not yet made its way to the internet. We do, however, have a number of fan-made videos of Clark performing, and you can watch some of those below.
And based on this Instagrammed setlist, it appears that St. Vincent performed a new song called “New York.”
Meanwhile, we also have a fan-made video of Father John Misty’s set.
And at some point in the night, Annie Clark showed up on FJM’s Snapchat.
