The Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” Turns 20 Today And Three Of Them Want To Celebrate
I can’t wait for the day when the Spice Girls finally fucking reunite so we can stop ~*speculating*~ over whether or not they’re going to. Way back in January, Geri Horner (bka Ginger Spice) told the BBC that the Spice Girls did want to reunite, but Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice) would have no part in it. Today is the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls’ breakout single “Wannabe,” and in honor of the occasion Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), and Horner made a video that pretty much says they will be playing reunion shows in the near future. The only problem? Beckham is obviously missing from the clip as is Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), who said she will only join the reunion if Posh is involved. Reuters reports that Bunton, Brown, and Horner have been recording a new song with producer Eliot Kennedy, who worked with the Spice Girls during their heyday. Now, someone please explain what the fuck the point of a Spice Girls reunion is if all five of them aren’t participating? Should the tickets only be 3/5ths the price they would normally go for? I don’t know. Read an essay about the lasting impact of Spice World here and watch the video below.
