The Ettes – “Eat The Night”
Garage rock vets the Ettes are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their debut, Shake The Dust, by reissuing the album on their own imprint. Damn that must feel good, and it’s well deserved. Besides the pretty “glasz” blue, grey, and green marble color vinyl some of the album will be pressed on, the reissue’s main attraction is two extra songs that were originally available on 7″ singles. “Eat The Night” is one of those tracks, and it’s a fuzzed-out, attitudinal, rhythmic romp. Frontwoman Coco Hames’ locked in rhythm on the vocals cut through with a defiant tone as big, cymbal-heavy drums and crunchy guitar swell around her voice. Man, Shake The Dust is aging quite well. Listen.
The Shake The Dust reissue is out 9/30, exactly 10 years from the day of its original release, via the Ettes’ own Fond Objects Records. Pre-order it here.
