Jordaan Mason – “Never Homesick” Video
Last month, Jordaan Mason released their great new album, form less, and today the Toronto-based musician is sharing a video for the record’s closing track, “Never Homesick.” “I want to buy you clothes you’ll be too ashamed to wear in public,” Mason sings on the track. “So when you put them on, you’ll never have to be homesick.” Appropriately enough, the video starts with Mason trying on a bunch of different outfits before settling on a cat vest/floral pants combo and venturing out into the city. Mason sets the scene:
‘Never Homesick’ is about trying to overcome feeling dysphoric in public in the wake of creating a ‘home’ with someone who makes you feel comfortable and safe in your body. It’s about trying to bring that feeling of safety and comfort with you when you leave the house, trying to make the body ‘home.’ My friend Cong Li collaborated with me on the video, which was shot in my bedroom and in the neighbourhood that I live in, and ends at a place a friend of mine once called ‘queer narnia,’ which is basically just a rainbow light installation in an alley that over time has come to be a special place for me.
