Stars of track and field they are! Inspired by the 2016 Olympic Games, which kicked off in Rio this past weekend, Belle & Sebastian have released an unofficial Olympics theme song, along with a video featuring archival footage of past Olympic Games. The instrumental track is driven by a groovy, bouncy guitar for a light, floating feel that’s much different than the usual bombast of other Olympic songs. Here’s what guitarist Stuart Murdoch had to say about the track:

Belle & Sebastian dig the Olympics, love the Olympic ideal, love that the world gets together for a big “sports day” once every four years. We can’t be part of it, though we’d like to be. So we recorded a piece of music with Rio in mind, specifically the Track and Field.
