Stream Space Mountain Big Sky
Cole Kinsler has been making music as Space Mountain since 2013. His latest, Big Sky, takes on a wide-eyed and awe-inspired view of the world. “I started reading Proust while I was writing these songs, and I think his writing affected me a lot,” he explains in a press release. “I was thinking a lot about involuntary memory, the passage of time, and the value of art.” The songs on his new album have as much in common with finger-picked folk as they do with the creative highway that’s been forged in the past decade between Boston and Brooklyn via the Exploding In Sound label, a scene that Kinsler drew from heavily in past efforts but has started to develop outwards from on Big Sky. Early single “Never Lonely,” a duet with Forth Wanderers’ Ava Trilling, charted this progression, and the rest of the album follows suit with dusty, meandering folk songs for those who want to keep dreaming but feel intimidated by the vastness of the world.
