Annie Hardy – “Go Hey Ruku Sake” Video
It’s hard to fathom how so much heartbreak and loss can fit into such a small period of time. Giant Drag frontwoman Annie Hardy lost her infant son in March 2015 and the baby’s father less than a year later, and in the wake of those tragedies, she’s returning to music with a new solo album entitled Rules. Recorded with longtime collaborator Joe Cardamone of the Icarus Line, the LP also features appearances from the Germs’ Don Bolles, X’s DJ Bonebrake, Black Mountain’s Stephen McBean, and Petra Haden. Tomorrow, Hardy is playing a mix of new material and Giant Drag songs in a show at LA’s El Cid, and today, she’s sharing a video for new song “Go Hey Ruku Sake.” The playful chant of the title belies the deep sadness in her repeated pleas of “don’t leave me,” as the lo-fi video flickers in time to the track’s pulsing synth backbone. Watch and listen.
Rules is coming soon.
