Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments
I know we sometimes like to joke around here, but I just wanna say I consider you all my family. Well, maybe not my family so much as a group of anonymous strangers who share gifs on blog posts I edit. Either way, it really warms my heart to see a member of the Stereogum community open his heart for a fellow commenter like this…

Every time I get into my car, I plug the aux cord into my iPhone and also plug in the charger because the battery sucks after a year and a half. It’s a small thing, but I’d like to have the option to change my phone while also listening to music from it. |

maybe they’ll have a charger/aux cord splitter adapter you can buy separately. Apple a pretty courageous like that. |

What gets me is the inability to listen to music and charge your phone simultaneously. That’s a deal breaker for me. |

Yes but as far as the way that The Strokes carried themselves, they have about as little in common with the typical LES bands as Rilo Kiley. The Strokes were preppy kids who attended the Dwight School, which is on the Upper West Side. They had a lot of money and had plenty of education in the arts. If anything, musically they have a lot more in common with the Williamsburg scene with all those bands that helped turn the area that was waiting to be gentrified into the area that’s too expensive for just about any millennial to find decent housing in. I was never that involved in New York’s hipster scene, but even if the Strokes are technically part of the LES scene, culturally, I would personally never look at The Strokes as a Lower East Side Band. But this is someone who has spent too much time in New York. I understand why the New York rock scene would be looked at through 2 categories |
