Kristin Hersh – “Soma Gone Slapstick”
The former Throwing Muses leader Kristin Hersh has one of the great, unearthly voices in American underground-rock history, and she’s recorded a number of great solo albums that have an unearthly power all their own. (If you ever have a chance to go see her live, do it. Hearing that sound come out of a human being is an absolute trip.) Lately, Hersh has been releasing albums in conjunctions with books, and her latest, a combination book and double-CD called Wyatt At The Coyote Palace, is coming out this fall. Hersh played all the instruments on the album herself, and she’s shared the song “Soma Gone Slapstick,” an eerie and powerful song with sparse instrumentation that gives that voice plenty of room to operate. Listen to it below, via the Quietus.
Wyatt At The Coyote Palace is out 11/11 on Omnibus Press.
