Tredici Bacci – “Drowned” (Feat. Jennifer Charles)
Singer-songwriter and composer Simon Hanes sculpts retro-tinged, cinematic soundscapes with his 14-piece outfit Tredici Bacci. He blends his experiences as a member of Guerilla Toss, a graduate of the New England conservatory, and his orchestral pursuits arranging, conducting, and composing as Luxardo, and makes lush excursions with many of the friends he’s made along the way. The mini orchestra is set to release their proper debut full-length Amore Per Tutti next month, and an early foray into the record is “Drowned” featuring Jennifer Charles of Elysian Fields.
The song morphs from an Ennio Morricone-esque rustics into ’70s singer-songwriter vibes and then melds the two with hypnotic key and guitar chords and jazzy horns as Charles’ sultry, gauzy vocals float gently above it all. As she sings a longing, lovelorn tale, the instrumentation rises and falls beneath her with precision, resulting in an alluring, evocative experience. Check it out.
Amore Per Tutti is out 11/11 via NNA Tapes. Pre-order it in physical and digital formats here.
