Big K.R.I.T. – “Free Agent”
Big K.R.I.T. is angry. The Mississippi spitter recently severed ties with Def Jam to sign with Cinematic Music Group, and he’s using his latest track, “Free Agent,” to vent some frustrations. K.R.I.T. felt his former label didn’t give the proper resources he needed to reach his full potential, and he doesn’t hold anything back on the new song.
It begins with an interview on the Breakfast Club on NYC’s Power 105.1 in which Charlamagne expressed incredulity that Def Jam didn’t shelve Live From The Underground and Cadillactica. From there, K.R.I.T goes in with some scathing bars for his former label, and affirmation that he’s hungrier than ever as he moves forward. Sample barb: “Fuck a ball in their court/ I took a shot/ Three presidents in five years/ I never stopped/ They worried about them single sales/ Them albums flopped/ Oh lord, lord, lord, there they go/ Trying to fuck me out another budget/ I ain’t a hoe.” Sheesh. Check it out.
If this song is any indication expect a mixtape and tour from K.R.I.T. soon-ish.
