The Roots – “My Shot (Rise Up Remix)” (Feat. Busta Rhymes, Joell Ortiz, & Nate Ruess)
Yesterday, Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the details of The Hamilton Mixtape, the all-star tribute to his hit Broadway musical, which will feature a whole ton of musicians doing their versions of songs from the play. Today, we get to hear the first two songs that Miranda has shared from the mixtape. The Roots, who helped Miranda put together the Hamilton soundtrack album, have recorded their own version of “My Shot,” and it features Black Thought rapping alongside New York rap veterans Busta Rhymes and Joell Ortiz, as well as backing vocals from Fun. singer Nate Ruess. Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson has done her own version of “It’s Quiet Uptown.” You can use Apple Music to hear both songs below.
The Hamilton Mixtape is out 12/2 on Atlantic.
