Modern Baseball – “Bart To The Future, Pt. 2: The Musical”
Modern Baseball are the latest band to contribute a song to the 30 Days, 30 (now 50) Songs project. Theirs is called “Bart To The Future, Pt. 2: The Musical,” named after The Simpsons episode that chillingly predicted the possibility of a Trump presidency (pray they were wrong!). It’s MoBo’s first new song since the release of their third album, Holy Ghost, and it translates all the anxiety and fear over seeing such a significant portion of the country support such a loathsome candidate into something catchy and warm. “I wish that you were far away/ So far away from me,” they sing towards the presidential candidate, and hopefully after tomorrow we can put this whole ordeal far, far behind us. Listen below.
Here’s what the band had to say about the song:
It was impossible to say EVERYTHING we wanted to say about Trump. We knew that by looking at him as a peer, rather than this untouchable figure, we could judge and treat him like any other greedy, self-centered, short-tempered, racist, sexist, unqualified person you meet in everyday life. Still, knowing that name calling will get you nowhere — we kept our examples generalized so that listeners can come to their own conclusions about how Trump really is, and how he would be as POTUS.
Holy Ghost is out now via Run For Cover.
