Canshaker Pi – “JALS” Video
Amsterdam-based quartet Canshaker Pi make a supercharged, highly rhythmic brand of indie rock that blends pysch, punk, and noise. That may sound like calamity, but it’s well-tempered with tight playing and opportune shifts in energy and aesthetics. Their eponymous debut, produced by Stephen Malkmus, is set to drop at the end of the week. Just ahead of its release they’ve shared the single “JALS” along with an accompanying video.
The song is an infectious romp, weaving in and out of vintage rock, fuzz, and punk and easily ramping up and down at the perfect moments. As for the visual companion directed by Robin Bekker, it features the members of the band having lots of fun fooling around in a classroom, highlighting the youthful nonchalance that makes the song seem effortless.
