Stream J. Cole 4 Your Eyez Only
The world only learned of the existence of 4 Your Eyez Only, the new J. Cole album, last week. And before releasing the album, Cole only hyped up its existence by releasing a 40-minute documentary and by talking a lot of shit on two non-album tracks, “False Prophets” and “Everybody Dies.” So now that the album is finally out, the world is hearing the whole thing for the first time. It’s a relatively short and straightforward affair, only lasting 10 songs and 43 minutes. And while Cole has a production credit on every track, he’s getting some help from prominent producers like Boi-1da and Childish Major. I’m listening for the first time right now, and it seems to be firmly within Cole’s wheelhouse — conversational, inward-focused, immersed in Cole’s memories — while sounding slightly harder and less indulgent than Cole’s recent work. Listen to the whole album below, via Spotify.
4 Your Eyez Only is out now on Dreamville/Roc Nation/Interscope.
