Watch Metallica Absolutely Wreck The Jimmy Kimmel Live! Stage
35 years after they got together, Metallica remain an absolutely fearsome and colossal live act, and they once again proved it last night on TV. The band took over the outdoor festival stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live!, playing to a hyped-up crowd and bashing their way through all six and a half minutes of “Atlas, Rise!,” the lead single from their impressively old-school new album Hardwired… To Self-Destruct. And when they got done with that, they really got old-school playing the deathless Ride The Lightning classic “For Whom The Bell Tolls.” Worth noting: James Hetfield wore a vest covered with old metal-band patches, and Kirk Hammett wore a cream-colored suit (vest, not jacket). I honestly don’t know which was funnier. You’re rich and famous and in Metallica, guys! Just wear some black T-shirts! During the show, Metallica also sat for an interview with Kimmel, talking about designing their logo by drawing it on a napkin and whether their kids think it’s cool that their dads are in Metallica. Watch the performances and the interview below.
Hardwired… To Self-Destruct is out now on Blackened Recordings.
