Chairlift Break Up
After three albums and about 11 years as a group, the New York avant-pop duo Chairlift are calling it a day and going their separate ways. In a statement that they released on their Twitter, group members Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly announce that they will play their final shows together in spring of 2017.
In the announcement, Polachek and Wimberly says that the split is amicable and that they simply accomplished “every goal that we had when we started recording.” Polachek will go on to record as a solo artist — she already released one album under the name Ramona Lisa in 2014 — while Wimberly will produce music for other artists.
