Alison Krauss – “Losing You” (Brenda Lee Cover)
Alison Krauss, the roots-music traditionalist and the owner of one of the best voices in all of music, hasn’t released an album since Paper Airplane, her 2011 LP with her band Union Station, and she hasn’t released a proper solo album since 1999. That’ll change next month. Krauss has signed with Capitol, and she’s getting ready to release Windy City, and album of classic country covers that she recorded with veteran Nashville producer Buddy Cannon. The album includes Krauss’ versions of country standards made famous by people like Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, and Ray Charles; Krauss decided that she only wanted to sing songs older than she was. The album’s opener is an exquisite, string-soaked version of the 1963 Brenda Lee song “Losing You,” and it’s just lovely. Below, listen to that song and check out a long trailer for the album that includes pieces of a number of other songs.
Windy City is out 2/17 on Capitol, and I need it in my life.
