Next week, Austra, the darkly glimmering Toronto synthpop project led by Katie Stelmanis, will follow up 2013’s Olympia with their new album Future Politics. Coming into the world in a dark moment, the new album dares to consider the idea of a brighter future, imagining what utopia might feel like. Musically, it’s got an instinctive cinematic pulse, and it takes full advantage of Stelmanis’ stunning voice. There’s just a lot to like here.
