Will Wiesenfeld has been recording gooey, melodic electronic music under the name Baths for years. And now he’s introducing a new alias, Geotic, and getting ready to release the rippling, sighing album Abysma. Today, he’s shared his self-directed new video for first single “Actually Smiling.” In the video, he plays a character named Chorgin — we know this because his shirt says “Chorgin” — who wants to go swimming in the ocean but who decides that his hair is too short and the ocean won’t let him swim. So the whole video chronicles is search for more hair. It’s fucking ridiculous. Watch it and read Wiesenfeld’s statement about it below, via The FADER.

Wiesenfeld says:

Firstly, BLESS my friends in the credits for working so hard for two full days on practically zero budget. I think we all just wanted to see if the thing could actually work.

I had a little philosophy for the video — I wanted the atmosphere to be as cinematic and warm as we could get it, but for all the actual content in the video to be complete idiocy. With a narrative. I think that worked… This was shot back in September of 2015 on literally the hottest day of the year, so if nothing else, it’s become a vibrant and sweaty time capsule.
