Slow Dancer – “Don’t Believe” Video
Simon Okely used to play guitar in the Australian band Oh Mercy, and he’s now branched out on his own, recording music as Slow Dancer. He’ll release his second solo album later this year, and he’s just shared the video for first single “Don’t Believe,” a sort of understated, R&B-addled new wave jam. In the clip, Okely plays a service-industry everyman who encounters the same two women everywhere he goes — at the beach, at the bowling alley, at the record store. The video, from directors Anna Phillips and Sam Brumby, has a crispy and mannered retro sensibility that mirrors the song. Check it out below, via NPR.
The as-yet-untitled Slow Dancer album is coming later this year on ATO.
