Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile Are Recording A Collaboration

Melbourne's Courtney Barnett and Philadelphia's Kurt Vile are currently two of the best people working in the medium of old-school, guitar-centric indie rock, and it appears that the two of them are working on something together right now. As Pitchfork points out, Vile and Barnett have lately been sharing pictures of themselves in the studio together. And now the website of Australia's Newmarket Studios may have spilled the beans on it, announcing that the two are working on a "forthcoming compilation" together. Its Instagram has also shared a picture of the two, along with producer Callum John Barter, that mentions how great their "collaboration" is going to be:

So: Do they mean one song on a compilation? Or are the two of them really working on a whole thing together? Time will tell, but this is a good reason to get excited.
