Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, & Nico Muhly’s Planetarium Album On The Way
Back in 2013, Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner (of the National), Nico Muhly, and drummer James McAlister, alongside a string quartet, performed an original composition titled Planetarium for the Brooklyn Academy Of Music. The program featured a number of songs inspired by the solar system, and ran over four nights that March. Now years later, it seems the collaborators are finally revisiting the project for a proper studio release. Mulhy confirmed as much two years ago on Twitter, but only today have the band members, alongside record label 4AD, shared a teaser suggesting a full LP is on its way. The video is merely 45 seconds of ominous orchestral sounds over plumes of red smoke, but what it portends is worth getting excited over. Check it out, and revisit the group’s performance of “Jupiter,” below.
