Stream Freddie Gibbs You Only Live 2wice
Today, the ferocious and endlessly gifted Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs releases his new album You Only Live 2wice, his first full-length statement since being acquitted on charges of sexual assault in Austria last year. As you might expect, there’s a lot of stuff about his legal troubles on the new album; I especially liked the bit about breaking down once he learned that all the books in the prison library were in German. But the album itself is also worth hearing just as a display of pure rapping, which almost nobody does as well as Gibbs. There are no guest-rappers on the album, and it’s a short one, eight songs in half an hour. We’ve already posted the “Crushed Glass” video and the Kaytranada/BADBADNOTGOOD-produced “Alexys,” and now you can use Spotify to stream the whole album below.
The self-released You Only Live 2wice is out now.
